The Meridian Weekly – March 15, 2026

This week’s edition is headlined by historic achievements on the mats and the court. Laingsburg freshman Dylan Phillips brought home an individual state championship in wrestling, dominating his final match 9-2 to cap a remarkable 52-1 season. He was joined at Ford Field by fellow freshman Eli Stier and Ovid-Elsie’s Will Baese and Ava Juhas, all representing our community with pride. In girls basketball, the Laingsburg Wolfpack captured a District championship with a gritty 40-23 win over Bath, before falling to a powerful Pewamo-Westphalia squad in the Regional semifinal. Coach Dan Morrill praised his five seniors as among the most coachable he’s ever worked with.

We also shine a spotlight on Humble Beginnings Ranch, where fourth-generation farmer Ashleigh Lerg is regenerating family land with a herd of bison and a commitment to sustainable agriculture. The Elsie Masonic Lodge continues its community service, donating $1,200 to the DREW Foundation and supporting the Elsie Baby Pantry. Looking ahead, mark your calendars for the Ovid Healthcare Easter Egg Hunt on March 28, the Laingsburg Alumni Legacy Award Golf Outing on April 18, and don’t miss the chance to purchase Springtime Festival Raffle tickets. From state championships to farm features and community fundraisers, there’s plenty to celebrate this March.
