The Meridian Weekly – April 12, 2026

In this week’s edition, we celebrate the resilience and creativity of the Laingsburg Lions Club and Greater Laingsburg Recyclers, who transformed a rainy Easter weekend into a memorable drive-thru Easter egg hunt. Nearly 200 families rolled through the recycling center to receive bags of treat-filled eggs, with the Easter Bunny on hand to greet everyone—a last-minute innovation that saved a cherished community tradition. We also congratulate Leonard Elementary on being named the #1 Best Public Elementary School in Shiawassee County by Niche, a testament to the hard work of students, staff, and families.

Elsewhere, we highlight the launch of Shiawassee County’s first law enforcement “soft interview room” for crime victims, a trauma-informed space created through a partnership between SafeCenter and the Sheriff’s Office. Classical Bells returns to Laingsburg for a spring concert fundraiser on April 19, and the Inspired Women Network hosts a generational workplace event on April 28. With spring sports seasons in full swing—including meet-the-team features for Laingsburg baseball, softball, track, and golf—and rummage sales, library events, and a milestone anniversary for Local Roots Cannabis Company, there’s plenty to keep our community connected. As always, thank you for supporting your hometown paper.
