The Meridian Weekly – March 22, 2026

In this week’s edition, we’re inspired by stories of resilience, community support, and remarkable achievement. The Fox family continues their brave journey as 15-year-old Todd Fox Jr. recovers from a rare and serious medical crisis, and the community is rallying behind them with a benefit tribute show featuring Steve Hunt (“Elvis”) this Saturday, March 28, at the Ovid Lions-VFW Hall. We also celebrate six Ovid-Elsie student-athletes who signed letters of intent to continue their sports careers at the collegiate level, a proud moment for our schools and families.

Elsewhere, we shine a spotlight on George Zmitko, a 2026 Michigan Master Farmer whose 7,000-acre operation exemplifies innovation, stewardship, and family legacy. The Ovid-Elsie FFA brought home numerous state awards, and our local robotics teams—both Laingsburg’s Red Thunder and Ovid-Elsie’s MarauderBots—earned major victories to kick off their seasons. With Easter egg hunts, casino bus trips, and the 5th annual LALA Golf Outing on the horizon, there’s no shortage of ways to connect with your community. As always, thank you for supporting your hometown paper.
