The Meridian Weekly – October 25, 2026

In the October 25, 2026 edition of The Meridian Weekly, the community stepped up fast after a fire at Tedd and Addie Kvalevog’s East Street home in Ovid. The family of seven and their pet escaped safely, and within days neighbors had donated clothing, food, gift cards and cash and helped them find a new place to live. This week’s edition also covers a busy Ovid-Elsie Board of Education meeting. The district received a clean audit, the board voted 4–3 to rescind September’s censure of its vice president, and it released the attorney’s opinion on those actions. On the field, Ovid-Elsie football outran Chesaning on Senior Night to keep its playoff hopes alive. Laingsburg’s boys soccer team beat Dansville to reach the district final, chasing its first title since 2008. Ovid-Elsie’s soccer season ended in its own district final, with a conference championship in hand for coach Jerome White’s first year.

You’ll also find a recap of the Laingsburg High School All-School Reunion, which drew more than 140 alumni, and trick-or-treat hours for Ovid, Elsie, Laingsburg and neighboring towns. The Clinton County Senior Center has launched a $70,000 matching campaign for a new roof and HVAC, and Community Hope Barn in Ovid is offering free guitar, singing and piano classes. Superintendent Mark Horak hosts coffee talks on November 6 and 7. Pick up your copy in Monday’s mail, or read it free online every Friday at meridianweekly.com.
