Ovid-Elsie Girls Complete Perfect MMAC Season, 60-28 Over LakeVille

Ovid-Elsie completed a perfect conference season with a 60-28 win over Otisville LakeVille here February 24.

Coach Ryan Cunningham’s Lady Marauders finished a perfect 12-0 in the
MMAC (18-4 overall)— with their second-straight Mid-Michigan Activities Conference championship, following a 40-year drought. Otisville-LakeVille fell to 3 9 in the league and 9-12 overall.

The Marauders had four players reach double figures over the visiting Falcons. Ava Bates led O-E with 16 points and 3 rebounds, while Braeden Tokar knocked in 14 points and grabbed 6 rebounds. Tokar shot a perfect 5-for-5 from the field including 3-for-3 from behind the 3-point arc. Evalyn Cole added 12 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists and 6 steals, and Kiah Longoria chipped in with 10 points, 3 assists and 2 steals.

“This was a great way to put a stamp on our conference championship,” said Cunningham. “We had four girls hit double digits and every player got in the game and contributed. It was a fun night and a great way to end our regular season.”

Rylee Lewis knocked down another triple to finish with 3 points, while Hailee Campbell and Murphy Alexa each scored two points. Madison Thornton added a free throw to round out the Marauder scoring.
