The Meridian Weekly – May 31, 2026

Spring is in full swing here at The Meridian Weekly, and so are our communities. This week’s edition is packed with hometown pride, from the Elsie Dairy Festival Pageant candidates gracing our front page to Laingsburg’s Red Thunder Robotics wrapping up a historic season at the World Championship in Houston. We also have full coverage of Memorial Day remembrances across Ovid, Elsie, and Greenbush, plus heartwarming stories like Ashley Middle School students delivering succulents to local nursing home residents. It is the kind of small town goodness that makes our job a joy.

Sports fans will want to turn straight to our pages. The Wolfpack baseball and softball teams are red hot heading into postseason play, Ovid-Elsie track athletes shattered records on their way to State Finals, and Laingsburg’s girls’ soccer team gave Bath everything they had in a dramatic District matchup. We are also celebrating the 43rd annual Laingsburg Springtime Festival (huge congrats to raffle winner Richard Cook), sharing important public notices on the Elsie Dam project and local millage proposals, and remembering beloved community members in our obituaries. As always, thank you for making The Meridian Weekly part of your week, online and in your mailbox.
