This week’s edition is bursting with graduation pride and community celebration! We’re thrilled to feature the Laingsburg High School Class of 2026 — including co-valedictorians Hazel Burley, Cody Catalane, Carter Klont, Bella Latuszek, Evan Lefevre, Hannah Rathka, and Waylon Rowley — as well as the full Ovid-Elsie graduating class (see page 19). Meanwhile, Shannon and Troy Graham have been named Parade Marshals for the 43rd Laingsburg Springtime Festival happening May 21-25, with a full schedule of carnival rides, arts & crafts, cornhole tournament, live music, and a raffle for a custom golf cart. Don’t miss the festival pull-out section on pages 9-11!
Elsewhere, the Elsie Village Council held a public hearing on a proposed $9.23 million water improvement project to address aging infrastructure from the 1930s, the Ovid-Elsie girls tennis team captured the MMAC championship, and the Ovid-Elsie football team continued its annual tradition of cleaning up the CIS Rail Trail. We also said goodbye to several beloved community members, including Mary Louise Miller (98) and Mary Catherine Fox (95). And as always, Crystal Mitchell shares her gardening adventures — this week, she’s hunting for horse liniment after digging up snowball bushes. Congratulations to all our graduates, and enjoy the Springtime Festival!
