The Meridian Weekly – July 5, 2026

Ovid Carriage Days is almost here, and this week’s edition is packed with everything you need to know for the big festival. We are thrilled to introduce our parade marshals, Deb Price and Suzanne Grubaugh, two incredible women who have given so much to our community through good food and local news. The festival runs July 10-12 with a community potluck, midway rides, a super parade, car show, wood carving demonstrations, wrestling, and a vertical wall challenge. We also celebrate Ovid Auto Parts’ 50th anniversary, a true milestone for this family-owned business, and share the story of Jack and Tess Clarkson, who have been bringing live music to our area for 46 years.

Beyond the festival, we have full coverage of the Laingsburg Lions Club honoring the memory of Duane “Slug” Ginther with a dedicated bench, and we are proud to share the many postseason honors earned by our Lady Wolfpack softball team. The Elsie Library is wrapping up its summer reading program, and we have important public notices on elections and community meetings. As always, thank you for making The Meridian Weekly part of your summer, and we hope to see you in Ovid this weekend.
