It was a cold, rainy Saturday on December 12th, but the weather did not dampen the enthusiasm of kids and their parents. The drive-by holiday event was sponsored by the Ovid Carriage Days Committee. Normally the event would be held on a Friday evening at the Lions/VFW Hall. With the current COVID conditions, the committee came up with a way to carry on the tradition of gift giving for kids in the community and an opportunity to see Santa & Mrs. Claus by creating a Drive-By event.
The response was tremendous, a line was formed at 3pm and over the next two hours, car by car, kids and their parents were treated to candy canes and specially made chocolate bars. Over 200 toys were handed out to kids by the Carriage Days Elves. Kids left their letters for Santa as they waved good-by.
