The Meridian Weekly – November 1, 2026

In the November 1, 2026 edition of The Meridian Weekly, we celebrate a historic run for Laingsburg boys soccer. The Wolfpack beat Lansing Christian 1-0 for the program’s first MHSAA District title since 2008, then edged Saginaw Valley Lutheran 1-0 in the Regional semifinal before falling to Clarkston Everest Collegiate in the Regional final. Senior night went well for Laingsburg football, a 42-8 win over Carson City-Crystal, while Ovid-Elsie’s playoff hopes ended in a close loss at Imlay City. Lia Soeltner set Laingsburg’s career digs record in volleyball. Off the field, Memorial Healthcare nurse Deven Morel received the DAISY Award for arranging a hospital wedding for a seriously ill patient, Ovid-Elsie FFA students delivered donated apples from Wyrick Orchard to the Elsie Area Food Bank, and the Ovid Class of 1966 marked its 60th reunion by donating to the library, the Lions Club and the fire department.

With Election Day on Tuesday, this issue includes letters to the editor on the St. Johns schools bond and the Middlebury Township millages. Holiday giving is underway too: Ovid-Elsie Christmas basket applications are due November 30, Coats for Marauders runs through November 12, and the Laingsburg Public Library’s silent auction opens November 2. Wyrick Orchard closes for the season on November 8. Pick up your copy in Monday’s mail, or read it free online every Friday at meridianweekly.com.
