Springtime Festival Bloomed Into Success

By Deb Price, Publisher and Editor

The first area festival of the year following the pandemic shut down from 2020 was held in Laingsburg over Memorial Day weekend. People came out in droves to experience the event hosted by the Laingsburg Lions Club. The five day festival started out slow with cold and rainy weather on Thursday and Friday, but Saturday and Sunday shattered attendances from previous years and Monday, Memorial Day, a bonus day to the festival turned out great also.

“We exceeded our goal of raising $10,000, not only did the locals attend the event, we saw people in town we have never seen before. You could tell that people were excited about getting back to a sense of normal, explained Ed Arthur, former Lions Club President. “We heard very few complaints, people were disappointed that there was no French fry wagon and many commented about the high school
band not being in the parade, but other than that the weekend was awesome,” he went on to say.

The raffle drawing was held on Sunday, May 30th. Many gathered at Leonard Hardware to see if they were winners. The grand prize, a Custom Golf Cart was won by Gail Geasler, Robbie Burl Jr, won the $500 second place prize, 3rd place prize was a grill which Jennie Bowhil won, the 4th place meat bundle prize was won by Hillary Naren, the 5th and final prize was a mystery prize which was a wheelbarrow full of prizes donated by Heather Hart, Budweiser, Subway, Dairy Den, Ayven Grace, Bonnie Lucille Salon, Central Pharmacy, Leonard Hardware, Modern
Woodmen, Angus Cattle Co. and Twilligers Tavern.

The Lions Club thanks all those who helped make the 2021 Springtime Festival such a success. Laingsburg is a really great place to live.
