Positive COVID Tests in OE School District

Leonard Elementary in Ovid was closed last week for three days, Monday, September 21st thru Wednesday, September 23rd. One class of 14 students were required to quarantine. On Saturday, September 19th, Superintendent Cunningham was notified by the Mid-Michigan Health Department that an individual in the school tested positive for the coronavirus. Superintendent Cunningham would not dis-close whether the individual was a student or staff citing protecting confidentiality as the reason. This was the third school building in the OE district identified with a positive case.

Earlier this month EE Knight Elementary and Middle Schooleach had a positive student case.

Cunningham made the decision to close Leonard for those three days out of an abundance of caution. It was not at the recommendation of the Health Department. A deep cleaning of the school was done during the closure and students continued to learn online at home. The school re-opened on Thursday, September 24th.
