Open House for Retired Library Director Sharlyn Huyck

An open house will be held at the Ovid Public Library on Sunday, October 17th from 2-4pm for retired library director Sharlyn Huyck.

Huyck has served as library director for 36 years. Since March of 1985 she has overseen library operations in Ovid In 1985 the building was a small three-room facility that served the 5,000 people who reside in the Village of Ovid, Middlebury Township and Ovid Township. During the next 10 years, the library added property to the south and east. The millage proposal was passed. The library building was remodeled into the November 1996 addition. In the next two years the Thomas Reading Room was added. The current building is 3,700 square feet in size. Current circulation in nearly 40,000 books annually.

Hours Update

The Ovid Public Library will be closed on Saturday, October 9 so the staff can attend a wedding. No books will be due that day. We will also be having a Classic Movie Day on Wednesday, October 6 at !:00. We will be showing Jumbo with Doris Day and Jimmy Durante. You can bring your lunch or personal snack. There will be water provided.

The Adult Booktasting will be held on Monday October 11 at 1:00. This will be held at the Ovid Public Library. On Friday, October 22 we will be having our Preschool Story and Craft time. This will start at 10:30. We are happy to announce that we will be having our newest librarian, Miss Shelly, as our reader for story time. Be sure to bring your kids. They are welcome to come in their Halloween costumes for this story time.
