Marauder Girls Play Tough at MHSAA State Tennis Finals

ANN ARBOR — The Michigan High School Athletic Association (MHSAA) Division IV Girls Tennis State Finals took place at the University of Michigan Varsity Tennis Center.

Coach Mary Bradley’s Ovid-Elsie team was honored to represent the O-E community with their State Finals appearance.

“The team played really tough matches against the best players in the state. said coach Bradley, after the Marauders scored four team points to tie with Frankenmuth. “Many of the scores don’t reflect the battle they put up each game. The girls tennis team not only represented the Ovid-Elsie community with strong tennis, but as classy student-athletes.”

Ann Arbor Greenhills won the state crown with 35 points, followed Bloomfield Sacred Heart with 26 team tallies in the 26-squad field.

Ovid-Elsie’s Christina Rademacher-Vine (#3 singles) wrapped up a phenomenal 17-1 regular season, winning her second round match on Friday before falling to one of the top seeded players.

At #1 doubles, Claire Thornton and Jollee Swender won their first match, as well as at #4 doubles where Jenna Tomasek and Hailie McCreery won their initial match, before both O-E entries fell to top seeded teams.

“Overall, the girls played tough against powerhouse tennis teams and proudly represented the Ovid-Elsie community,” explained coach Bradley.
