In November of 1996, the Ovid Public Library opened its new larger building. In 1997, the Thomas Reading Room was constructed, this was made possible by the bequeath of the estate of Berniece Thomas Lehman, a woman who enjoyed a positive experience at the library just down the street from her home.

A summer reading program for all ages was established in the 90’s, where stories, crafts and outdoor activities including Science Alive, a program that continues today. Other programs that exist today include: Book Discussion Groups, Book Tasting Club and a Classic Movie Group including “Gone with the Wind”, “Casablanca” and “Downton Abby” movies twice a month. Movie choices are chosen by group consensus and movie availability. The library also offers a community book sale from time to time to make room for incoming titles.

“Now that widowhood has entered my life, it is time for me to seek new adventures with my two sisters and other avenues of creative service to the community. I would like to THANK all for the opportunity to serve for over 30 years.”

Stop by the Ovid Public Library on Sunday, October 17th from 2pm-4pm to thank her for her service and wish her well.
